Iron

The above figure shows that the concentration of iron in Wairau Plain groundwaters resembles the natural evolution pattern exhibited by many other groundwater parameters. However, the appearance of iron is less predictable than for other parameters, with the potential for aesthetic problems to arise at wells in areas that otherwise have high quality groundwater. The higher values in the Taylor Pass area represent landfill monitoring site results.
