CBD Collections
Blenheim, Redwoodtown and Picton CBD waste collection
Marlborough's kerbside collection switched from rubbish bags to wheelie bins on 1 July 2024, including for businesses in Blenheim and Picton’s central business districts (CBDs). Council offers a daily waste collection service for all businesses, which is picked up from 5am to 7am, Monday – Saturday.
Currently Council is unable to offer a recycling service to CBD business owners. However, we encourage all businesses to recycle as much as possible themselves - this could include contracting a commercial provider to help you.
Collection tags
Businesses using Council’s CBD waste collection service pay for it through purchasing collection tags, which are sold in packs of 26. Business owners can buy extra tags from Council.
The number of tags you will need depends on the amount of collections you require each week. For example, a 140 litre bin collected twice weekly will require four packs of collection tags totalling $400 per year.
Low volume | 80 litres | $80 incl gst per 26 tags |
---|---|---|
Standard volume | 140 litres | $100 incl gst per 26 tags |
High volume | 240 litres | $140 incl gst per 26 tags |
Attach the collection tag to the left handle of the bin when it is ready to be collected. Any tags that have been re-used or tampered with will not be collected. Bins must have lids closed flat and be under 70kg in weight.
What goes in your red bin?

- broken glass - please wrap this carefully in newspaper

We strongly encourage restaurants and cafes to reduce their food waste as much as possible. There are many ways to achieve this, including by donating surplus food.

Where to place your bin
Where possible place your bin at the service alley behind your business. If your business has no access to a service alley, place the bin on the street kerb.
