What goes in the red bin?
- household waste including food scraps
- broken glass - please wrap in paper
- nappies, sanitary items, incontinence products
What can't go in your red bin?
- garden waste - including lawn clippings
- all batteries including lithium-ion (refer below)
- medical waste
- hazardous waste (refer below)
- liquids
- engine parts including oil (refer below)
- hot ashes
- any bulky, heavy items such as concrete, timber, shingle
Hazardous waste is accepted at the Hazardous Waste Centre (HWC) in Blenheim free of charge for residents. Oil and oil filters are recyclable at the HWC.
Batteries can be recycled but must be taken to one of the recycling stations listed on Council’s website.
