What goes in the maroon crate?
All glass bottles and jars can be recycled.
These should be unbroken and rinsed. Any lids should be removed.
What can't go in your maroon crate?
- light bulbs
- broken glass
- window glass
- mirrors
- ceramics
- drinking glasses
Why can’t I put glass in the recycling wheelie bin?
Mixing glass with other recycling results in a contaminated product. Recycling is picked up by a compactor truck which will break the glass and then it cannot be separated from the other recycling, adding extra cost. This is also a safety concern for our contractors. Please use the glass recycling crate provided.
