Marlborough Recovery Update #24, Friday 7 April 2023
Roading update
In the last fortnight crews have continued to place rock to build up the river and road embankment at the Limestone revetment site on Awatere Valley Road.
Works have also continued at Noel's Bridge. Crews have placed gabions and rock armour to provide protection to the new structure and the bridge approaches are now being constructed.
On Queen Charlotte Drive, 1.3km from the Havelock turnoff, steel reinforcement has been placed and shotcrete applied onto the face of the new slope protection wall. This week site rails are being installed as final works are completed.
Work at watertank slip, 20.5km from the Linkwater turnoff, will start on Monday 17 April, to temporarily stabilise the northern section. These works will require daytime road closures on weekdays from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm with openings on the hour, every hour. Works are expected to take several days depending on weather.
In the French Pass area, crews will commence on Monday 17 April to remove spoil and debris from the Ronga Road slip site, 5.5km from the SH6 turnoff.
In late April/start of May culvert works will be undertaken on Kenepuru Road, which will also require daytime road closures. The specific location of the works/closures will be notified.
Please follow all traffic management signage and be aware of a large number of truck movements on roads throughout the recovery zone.
