Stormwater FAQs
Is it okay to put paint, oil or other substances into a stormwater drain?
Only water can be discharged to the stormwater system. If you have accidentally spilt other liquids into a drain phone Council on 03 520 7400 (24-hour service). Stormwater drains discharge to local streams, rivers and harbours. Chemical spills can cause harm to these environments.
What can I do if my property is flooded?
Call Council on 03 520 7400 (24-hour service). A member of staff will call to inspect the property as soon as possible. It may not be possible for staff to visit immediately if a severe storm is occurring. Please take photographs of any flooding so assessment and future design work can be carried out after the storm has passed.
Where are stormwater mains located?
You will need to contact the Council offices on phone 03 520 7400.
