Purchase of Exclusive Right of Burial

The Council has adopted a policy through the Cemeteries Bylaw 2017, which means people are able to purchase an exclusive right of burial.

This enables the purchase of a burial or ashes plot ahead of the time the actual plot is required for interment. The purchase of an exclusive right of burial is available in the following Council administered cemeteries:

• Fairhall
• Havelock
• Omaka
• Picton
• Rai Valley
• Seddon
• Tuamarina
• Ward

You can purchase an exclusive right of burial by completing an Application for Exclusive Right of Burial form with the Council and paying the prescribed fee as set out in the Council's Schedule of Cemetery Fees.
