Picton Cemetery
Picton Cemetery dates back to the early European settlement of the Marlborough Sounds. The historic cemetery is located in Gravesend Place and flanks a hillside on the western side of the port town. The upper reaches of the cemetery have been terraced and offer serene vistas of the harbour, while the more modern extension below has been planned to meet the future needs of the community with a variety of interment options.
Picton Cemetery incorporates an impressive RSA section, traditional burial enclosures, burial beams, an ashes wall, a children's beam, a memorial ashes garden and a memorial wall which is part of the new redeveloped cemetery.
