Variation 6: Kerepi Site Rezoning

Marlborough District Council is proposing to make changes to the Proposed Marlborough Environment Plan (PMEP) by rezoning 12ha of Lot 2 DP578788 for residential purposes. The site is currently zoned as ‘Rural Environment’ within both the Wairau / Awatere Plan and the PMEP.

The variation specifically proposes to:

  • Rezone 5.5ha from Rural Environment Zone to Urban Residential Two (UR2), utilising existing provisions.
  • Rezone 6.4ha to a higher intensity residential use than UR2, for a degree of Medium Density Housing.

Reports, hearing details and other related information will be posted on the hearing portal as they become available.

The variation was publicly notified on 17 April 2024 and submissions closed on 14 May 2024 with 8 submissions being received.

The Summary of Submissions was notified on 9 August 2024 and can be found on the variation hearing portal.

The period to make a further submission closed on 22 August 2024 with no further submissions being received. The Hearing for Variation 6 was held on 7 November 2024.

On 28 February 2025, the decision on Variation 6 was publicly notified and the Proposed Marlborough Environment Plan amended in accordance with the decision.

Any person who made a submission and/or further submission may appeal the Council’s decision to the Environment Court with the closing date for appeals being Wednesday 16 April 2025. Information on the appeal process is available on the Environment Court website.
