Status: Operative
The following operative plan change has been made to the Marlborough Sounds Resource Management Plan and has been incorporated into the Plan.
Variation 3 amends the existing provisions and introduces new provisions to control large ships in the Queen Charlotte Sound and Tory Channel.
The Variation requires large ships wishing to travel faster than 15 knots, in lower Queen Charlotte Sounds and Tory Channel, to apply for resource consent. Ships wishing to travel up to 18 knots will be able to, provided they meet the environmental standard. Ships wishing to travel over 18 knots are required to meet the environmental standard and will be assessed for environmental effects.
