Funding and Grants
Sourcing funds is a very time consuming business. You need to start applying for funding in advance of your event. Always talk to the fund administrator before you put in an application, to ensure you meet the criteria and that you are asking for an appropriate amount.
For grant applications, Fund View is a computer database that lists over 500 sources of funding available for community groups. It is available for public use and is helpful for tracking down funding sources outside of Council. You can view information on Fund View on computer terminals at Marlborough District Library (Blenheim), Marlborough District Council and Picton Library and Service Centre.

Funding
Whilst Marlborough District Council does not have an event fund as such, event organisers can request funding through the Draft Annual Plan submission process. This opens in April each year when submissions are called for.

Grants
To help community organisations in benefiting the wider community, Council makes funds available through:
- Creative Communities NZ Scheme - Local Arts Funding
- MDC Community Grants
- MDC Arts and Heritage
- Youth Initiative Plan Funds
See the grants and awards page of this website for further details
Lottery Grants
The New Zealand Lottery Grants Board distributes the profit from state lotteries run by the New Zealand Lotteries Commission. It does this through a system of distribution agencies and committees that support a wide range of community purposes.
Gaming Machine Societies
The Department of Internal Affairs has a list of all societies that invite grant applications from the public, including those in Marlborough.
