Design Progress To Date

The New Zealand Container Return Scheme (NZ CRS) Design document was submitted to the Ministry for the Environment (MfE) at the end of 2020. A copy of the full design document and associated appendices can be accessed using the following links:

The Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) contained in the appendices received further feedback from the Packaging Forum via NZIER. The updated CBA report generated in response to this feedback can be accessed using the link below.

The Ministry for the Environment has reviewed the NZ CRS design and have subsequently released a consultation document on the next stages for considering the introduction of a CRS. You can access this consultation process using the link below.
