Nautical and Coastal Data Feed Status
The Marlborough District Council’s Nautical and Coastal department maintains a network of ship telemetry and environmental sensors and shares their data with other agencies and the public. This site provides information on the state of the sensors based on the last time information was received from the sensor and the accepted time lag on available data feeds. This sensor state information is currently limited to Weather Stations, Wave Buoys, and Tide Stations.
Tide Station Data Feeds
The Nautical and Coastal Team maintains three tide stations in the Marlborough Sounds. Each has a pressure sensor and a radar sensor. Measurements are taken every ten minutes and reported via cellular data to Marlborough’s data distribution platform

Wave Buoy Data Feeds
The Nautical and Coastal Team maintains two wave buoys in the Marlborough Sounds

- Tory Entrance / East Head (-41.203558°, 174.342595°)
Weather Station Data Feeds
The Nautical and Coastal Team maintains three Gill GMX500 Maximet Weather Stations in the Marlborough Sounds
- Northern Entrance / Kokomahua Islands (-41.093092°, 174.319968°)
- Tory Entrance / West Head (-41.213276°, 174.314669°)
- Waikawa Marina (-41.2647, 174.0394)
The Nautical and Coastal Team also forwards data from three Vaisala WXT 530 sensors maintained by Port Marlborough Limited.
