On the weekend of 3-4 March 2018, Marlborough District Council's GIS data was updated to take into account land movement from the 2016 Kaikōura earthquake.
The earthquake resulted in land movements of over five metres in some parts of the Marlborough district. Maps showing the approximate land movement in each area are available on the LINZ website.

Any coordinates supplied to Council should be checked to make sure they reflect the post-earthquake position of the land. Any coordinates measured before the earthquake may need correcting, depending on the accuracy required.
