A bylaw to control the consumption of alcohol in those public places where Council is concerned the possession of alcohol in the public place may result in disorderly behaviour and criminal offending.

The Local Government Act 2002 gives Council the authority to control the consumption and possession of alcohol in public places. Council can create ongoing alcohol bans or ban alcohol for one-off special events in public places.
The aim of this bylaw is to control the consumption of alcohol in those situations where Council is concerned that the possession of alcohol may result in disorderly behaviour and criminal offending.
The alcohol control areas applies 24 hours a day, seven days a week
