Wairau River
The Wairau River is a significant landscape feature in Marlborough and means different things to different people.
To local iwi it is a taonga that has sustained them for centuries.
To the Marlborough District Council it is a floodway that needs a clear run when heavy rain falls, and an area of biodiversity that needs enhancing and protecting.
To the wider community it is a place to enjoy the views up the valley, walk the dog, ride a mountain bike, go for a swim, ride a horse or catch a trout.
