How to apply for a certificate of acceptance
The information required to be supplied with a Certificate of Acceptance is similar to that of a Building Consent. Building Control strongly recommends that you see a suitably qualified design professional to help you navigate the Certificate of Acceptance process, as the requirements are extensive and it is very difficult for a non-building professional to understand exactly what the requirements are and why they are needed.
All applications must be preceded by a pre-application meeting unless previously agreed by the Certificate of Acceptance processing officer. To arrange a meeting please call 03 520 7400 and request a Certificate of Acceptance pre-application meeting. At this meeting you will need to have all documentation that you intend to submit with the application.
Please note that there will be a Fee associated to the Certificate of Acceptance Pre-Application Meeting in accordance with Building Control Group Fees and Charges Policy.
The applicant will need to complete the below form once the meeting request has been approved.

If at the pre-application meeting the Certificate of Acceptance processing officer is satisfied that the application and all necessary information for the application to be accepted has been provided, the application can be submitted to Building Control at the Council reception area. Again please note the application fee will need to be paid at the time of submitting the application.
