Seddon Domain
Seddon Recreation Reserve Management Plan Review
In the early 1980s a reserve management plan was prepared for Seddon Domain. The objectives for the plan were very general and provided high level guidance. However there have been changes within Seddon and the surrounding area that have happened since the early 1980s. Most notably the 2013 and 2016 earthquakes have significantly affected many lives, homes and buildings in the area.
These changes along with others that have taken place mean it is time to relook at the objectives of the current reserve management plan and see what is happening on Seddon Domain currently and what could happen in the future. The new plan for the Domain will provide an overall vision and management framework that will help guide both day-to-day and long-term decision making.

Why you should be involved
Seddon Domain is an important focal point for the Seddon community and beyond. A number of activities occur at the Domain including rugby, tennis, netball, cricket, and rugby. The community hall and swimming pool are also important focal centres for the community while the former croquet green has operated as a camping ground for a number of years. Training for fire-fighting activities and the popular CACTUS programme also take place on the Domain.
You may take part, or have taken part in one of these activities, or use the Domain in other ways. You may have views on how activities occur on the reserve or ideas for how the area could be used in the future.
How you can get involved
As a resident, reserve user or Marlborough local, you can influence how Seddon Domain is used, managed and developed in future by providing some suggestions or feedback. We are keen to hear your views. There are several opportunities to be involved. This includes through:
- an informal feedback period;
- a second more formal opportunity to prepare a submission on a draft management plan once that is released;
- and through hearings on submissions.
In addition, the review team are happy to come and talk with groups about the review process and listen to your ideas for how you would like to see Seddon Domain managed.
