Senegal Tea (RPMP 2018)
Senegal Tea is subject to an Exclusion programme as part of the Regional Pest Management Plan 2018. A small number of infestations in home gardens have been eradicated and as a result, this plant is not known to be established in Marlborough. The long term aim of the programme is to prevent the establishment of Senegal tea in Marlborough.
Marlborough District Council will investigate reports and carry out all the control work (if required) for this pest at no cost to the landowner.
Senegal Tea is also an unwanted organism under the Biosecurity Act 1993 given it is on the National Pest Plant Accord list of species banned from sale, propagation, distribution or commercial display.
Should you see this plant please report it immediately to the Marlborough District Council who will arrange for its control.
